------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED]  2004-09-30 08:32 -------
I don't see this being solved in on sa-dev. If the level of FPs due to RFCI
increases, it will be reflected in scores generated by the GA; end users can
regenerate or adjust scores as appropriate.

The issue as I see it is one of policy - whether it's consistent for RFCI to
list sites that drop specific mail from indiscriminate hosts
(roaringpenguin.com's dropping null-sender mail directed at read-only accounts,
in this case <postmaster>) while not listing sites that drop indiscriminate mail
mail from specific hosts (sites that reject all mail to postmaster based on MAPS
RBL.) The RFCs are anything but clear on this point, at least from the
discussion on RFCI. Regardless, it's up to RFCI to address this policy question;
I don't believe it's appropriate for SA-dev to get embroiled in this
unnecessarily acrimonious imbroglio.

Since the issue is still being actively argued at RFCI and there have been no
reported actual false positives due to SA's scoring of DNS_FROM_RFC_POST, I
believe it's premature to adjust SA's scoring.

By the same token, if someone can show an actual (not hypothetical or projected)
false positive due to dropping null-sender mail to a recipient that does not
originate mail, I'm sure that would help resolve the policy dispute over at
RFCI, provided that civil discourse is welcome there.
