This is the right place to report bugs and to request enhancements. Bug reports
are always welcome. You went through all the proper steps of reporting
something that you thought was wrong, explaining the situation that causes it,
what you think should happen, and what does happen instead. You proposed what
you think should be changed to fix it. All that was as it should be.
Unfortunately, in this case the developers do not agree with you that it is a
bug or that the proposed change wiould have a positive effect.

Remember, SpamAssassin is about correctly distinguishing between spam and ham
email. It isn't about who is best in an argument or who is cleverest in their
ideas. If you are seeing email that is being incorrectly categorized by
SpamAssassin and you can think of a way that would improve SpamAssassin's
ability to categorize that mail without harming its ability to correctly
categorize other mail, we do want to hear about it. You proposed a change that
we think would not have that benefit. If you can show how it would, then we
would want to hear about it, but given the discussion so far you would have to
provide some specific information showing how it would work, and a reason to
believe that it would improve SpamAssassin's detection ratios or performance or
both.

If you are an end user who cannot add rules to your local mail processing, you
may have to try to convince your sysadmin to make the change. But we did
suggest a workaround and I haven't seen anyone give a reason why the workaround
would not work.
