I spoke to a BEA support rep and he told me it probably would not work. Also, with the complexity of our applications (with lots of EJBs), changing the classloading for our application is not an option. I agree with you that most likely the issue is that Weblogic is not following the spec and/or a bug in their redelployment code. However, there are lots of people using Struts and Weblogic 8.1. One of the greatest strengths of an open source organization like Apache is that they can move more quickly than behemoth companies like BEA. So I think the best solution for users of Struts is to add my "fix" to the struts code. However, if it is more important to the Apache to blame BEA and not add this fix for the issue because the "real" problem is in BEA's code, that's okay by me. I just know that the developers will be frustrated. Thanks for following up.
