If there is consensus among the majority of those contributors weighing in
on the matter of dropping mailing list stats I will remove those. Otherwise
I will submit the report as is.

The rationale behind this is that while some within the community (and/or
outside, like IPMC and ASF Board Members) may not be interested in these
numbers, the report is going to be a public record.

IMO, the (reporting) responsibility of the project goes beyond the
requirements of the IPMC. This record will be made available to all parties
in order for them to see how the project is doing, and how its latest
report compares to a(ny) previous reporting period. It may be a factor for
(potential) adopters{[1] and (potential) contributors in their decision
whether to use and/or contribute to the works of the project.
As always, parties not interested in such (detailed) information can
disregard.

Another factor is that, while the Whimsy tool provides some data (limited)
about mailing lists stats, these Whimsy stats are (a) only visible to
parties with privileges (a controlled circulation) and (b) only provide a
moment in time snapshot. IMO, there is nothing in there that should be
regarded as sensitive information and may not be seen by non-privileged
contributors and others.

[1] adopter: any party that is using the works of the project in its
(regular) (business) operations.

Best regards,

Pierre Smits
