See <http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88687>, addressed all three problems with a newly introduced unoinfo program there.That sounds simple (i.e. great!) and will most certainly allow to setup Java-based applications interacting with OOo via UNO in an easy, straight-forward manner!
