We want to encourage the distinction between "it is *possible* to do xyz" versus "the page is well designed to do xyz".
Yes, I think multiple choice is good. I'd want to be able to say the equivalent of "yes, I could find what I wanted, but you sure made it hard for me" (if that was the case, as it is on far too many websites).
