Seconded.
Currently, if you don't read some geeky mailing lists ("geeky" for the
type of users we want to attract for testing release candidates), then
you don't have any chance of finding out about release candidates.
I like the idea of a second button - I'd even say it (also) belongs to
the main page: *Every* visitor of our site should know that there is a
RC to try out.
