is current state of this work.
There is currently a known issue where *mvn test* calling the test suite
reports {*}javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactoryConfigurationError: Provider
org.apache.xalan.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl not found{*}. This appears
to be a classpath problem, perhaps related to my trying to avoid using the old
endorsed/boot classpath kluges.
There may also need to be some work on other Ant plugins to pass down the
baseDir and make file references be relative to that rather than to current
directory.
But I think the concept is basically correct.
