Stipe, it's your call. But I wouldn't caught dead using Apache. It is
overbloated and way past due. Is this the roadmap for kannel? Then perhaps a
worthy project would be lightkannel.
As far as ease of implementation goes, this kind of change requested takes
only a few lines and can be done and tested in less than an hour. I am just
not sure who would benefit from this.
It took me some time to learn Octstr and Lists. Now learn pluggins? Getting
too tired for this. Why none can write straight C any more? If a plugin mode
becomes available, just learning, writing and debugging the pluggin API
could take a week. Then you have to think about maintaining the pluggin
code. Net-snmp guys are over their heads with that. They made an extra
effort once, that now cannot maintain. Look for Kannel to double its size,
from currently ~200,000 lines to ~400,000.
BTW: I am a performance freak believing in the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)
principle.

Nikos

Too much fuss. Is all this justifiable? Is this so essential that we

it is justifiable IMO. But "not" in the current config approach.
What we should have is more a "plugin" layered config and runtime
scenario, that
allows us to encapsulate these kind of things easier.
Thing of Apache's module API, with hooks for the various "pre-defined"
event
handlers and the association of the config structure to the module.
This leads us to design road map of Kannel 2.x. Which would be a great
talk
topic for any Kannel group meeting on the GSMA Mobile World in Barcelona.
