Hi,
In Fedora we have 153 (binary rpms) different languages hunspell
dictionaries. Those dictionary packages came from 126 source rpm packages.
Some of these dictionaries can be consolidated under one source rpm package
by using upstream as https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries project.
This upstream project contains 67 languages, out of which 66 languages have
hunspell dictionary files. There are 58 common number of languages between
Fedora's 126 (source rpms) hunspell languages and LibreOffice upstream's 66
hunspell languages.
Also, hunspell-en is the only package that is getting pulled in initial
installation of Fedora Workstation, hence I would like to keep it as a
separate source package.
So the benefit we get is 57 Fedora's hunspell source rpms will be provided
by 1 LibreOffice dictionaries upstream source rpm. We will also get 8 new
languages hunspell dictionaries from upstream.
I would like to submit this work as Fedora 45 Change. In case anyone want
to test it then I have Copr repo
