John, excellent, no problem! RE: connecting with Apple, would you
mind keeping me / the list abreast of the happenings?… Also, if
they / you would like additional feedback and such I'm most certainly
happy to discuss my experiences with this. This isn't the first time
I've tried getting a GUI in Java to behave, and there do seem to be
consistency issues, at least in my experience.
My current project though, is really more in need of good actual
GUI support rather than clever work arounds on my part; thus my notes
here. :)
Anyway, thanks again and will keep you / the list up to date with
my progress.
HOpe the holidays are treating you / yours well, and Happy New year!…
Smiles,
Cara :)

Cara,
The Free TTS SDK is at: http://freetts.sourceforge.net/docs/index.php
Just put a handful of Jar files in your classpath, and a couple of
calls
in your code.
If you get stuck, let me know.
I don't know if Tabs work with VO and Swing.
Will try to look at that today, though I don't expect to really get to
know VO and Swing until January, when I'm supposed to get with Apple
on
this.
