Cara et al,

Today I built a Hello World consisting of Swing buttons, using Java 5 on
OS X 10.4.

VoiceOver worked just fine when I tabbed among the buttons.

That being said, just a quick scan of the accessibility part of the Java 6
Release Notes suggests that VoiceOver may not work with all Swing controls
for earlier versions of Java.

Also found the reference re SWT and Eclipse. It says, "The current version
of SWT on OS X relies on Carbon, which is 32-bit and we won't be seeing
64-bit Carbon anytime soon." Apparently 32-bit Carbon does not work for
Leopard. Which would suggest that SWT-based Java apps won't work on
Leopard.

I'm scheduled to upgrade my govt. system to Leopard, Ganymede (the latest
Eclipse) and Java 6 next week.

Will let you know what I uncover re VoiceOver and the above goulash.

Avante,

John
