Sorry, mlibwrapper_jai.jar is not necessary. I removed mlibwrapper_jai.jar
and it is still working.

My problem was solved with the new JAI 1.1.2 library. I tried to go back to
the JAI lib of the current MMBase lib, but then the icache does not work
anymore. After replacing it by the new 1.1.2 library everything works again.
It must have to do with the setup of my provider.

With JAI I have now only troubles with icache gif's that are not shown,
although I can see them in the database. This is the same on Linux and
Win2k. I can live with that problem. Jpg works well.
