I have confirmed that changes to the SMTP substructure in SME5 break RAV
for some users.

RAV correctly scans the file for viruses and then passes the file to
SMTPFWDD which errors and terminates abnormally.

Ok, on poking under the hood, I have determined that this does not effect
IMP Webmail as this product does not use SMTP outbound but uses IMAP
directly. Webmail and RAV work fine.

Twiggi, SquirrelMail and any other standard e-mail client that currently
uses SMTP for outbound will most likely not work :(

In general anyone using RAV should not install SME5 at this time. Give
me some time to work with Mitel and RAV to come up with a solution.

If you are stuck because you already went ahead and upgraded, you have at
least two choices for now.

1) sit tight and use IMP webmail only
2) remove RAV and be without virus scanning protection until a solution
is found.

Sorry about this but please remember I did not have an opportunity to
participate and eval SME5 before the public release :(
