Well, the minimum system requirements for SME 5, even for a
"Category 1" server (<10 users, etc.) include a 90 MHz Pentium, so
I'm not sure of the relevance of the 486 here. In any case, though,
we have a trade-off: we increase the time spent processing the
templates (something which happens relatively infrequently), and we
decrease the time spent processing the config file (something which
happens more frequently). The increase in template processing time
is surely greater than the decrease in config file processing time,
but the frequency may make up for it.
