I am running 2.4.21 without NPTL (I think.) and although I have never had my 
node lock as such, but I have had periods where Freenet caused so much kernel 
useage that no interupts (IE mouse/keyboard) would go through for about a 
second. Of course I had no way of telling what caused this, so I can't say 
for sure that it was the VM or not.
