Ok, I think the optimal solution is: If the ipAddress setting is unspecified then the node should do its best to guess it, as it did in 0.3. If the ipAddress is specified then that should be used, but the installers should not try to set a bogus ipAddress such as 127.0.0.1. In this case, the ipAddress setting should be kept under one of the advanced tabs since it would only need to be set manually if the user is doing something ambitious with a firewall, or has multiple network interfaces only one of which can be used for Freenet. > So, should I really set as default non-transient? The reality is that it is an open question as to how long a node needs to be active for before it has a beneficial effect on the network (a valid topic for simulation maybe), however since the shorter a node is online for, the fewer other nodes will find out about it anyway, I think that the problem is probably self-correcting.
