Precisely my point. I find that the Mark V's 250hz and 500hz filters are most useful for digital. For the reason you give: the filter prevents AGC desensitization of a weak signal you are trying to copy by a nearby stronger signal. So, to answer your question, the mechanical filters are most valuable.
