Hi Davide,

Thanks for the info mate, I'm digesting all of it now.

The Debian installer GUI's look quite flash which is nice to see! :) Is it built with only the patches that have been described at the link below (GTK on DirectFB) - just want to make sure I'm fully up to date with the latest code.

Actually, the g-i uses gtkdfb 2.0.9 from an already patched set of
sources that are compiled and then packaged [1]

I've actually built up a GTK 2.8.3 installation running under DirectFB with uClibc according to the instructions on http:// www.directfb.org/wiki/index.php/Projects:GTK_on_DirectFB.

The gtk-demo program seems to be working but does crash when doing a few things (eg. right click over a text area and then any mouse button press causes a crash, another one is open the 'application main window' dialog, click on open, and then close - crash).

The error I'm getting on the console is:

       ---------------------- DirectFB v0.9.24 ---------------------

I'm using the vesafb ywrap, mtrr, options with a vga setting of 788 if that helps at all.

Does it look like a gtk-demo, directfb, or gtk-directfb issue? Trying to work out of it's a problem in my environment, or something I can simply ignore (eg. bug is gtk-demo itself).

Any thoughts at all?

I can't help you very much, but try to download this precompiled [2] set
of libs

[1]
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/debian-installer/libgtk+2.0-directfb0-udeb
[2] https://debian.polito.it/downloads/d-i_2-8-3_2005-11-16_build.tgz

ciao
