I'm going to try to fix a lot of bugs over the holidays and see if I
can get the 2.8.3 branch as stable as the older build.
Then maybe we can look at the memory leaks :)
Outstanding - I updated the gdk-directfb backend with GTK 2.8.3, and
the gtk-demo program is working well now, I no longer have the
crashes I was reporting yesterday with the popups (copy/paste and
message dialogs). Thanks immensely for your help there - really
appreciated.
You mentioned that the Debian group has been backporting various
patches to an older GTK release (I presume 2.0.9) - where do they
have their patches stored? I presuming it's somewhere within the
debian-installer SVN - but was just wondering in case someone knew it
off the top of their head. I'd wondering if there's any other changes
they have that aren't in 2.8.3.
I'd actually had the same issues with 2.0.9 as with 2.8.3 so I guess
I had been using an even older build that didn't have the latest
patches in it (it was the build available from http://
www.directfb.org/index.php?path=Development%2FProjects%2FGTK%2B - ie.
http://www.directfb.org/downloads/Libs/gtk+-directfb-2.0.9-2.tar.gz).
Great to see it all working now.
Would be great to have the 2.8.3 branch as stable as the 2.0.9 build.
Make sure you have some time off on your holidays though! :)
Thanks again.
Cheers,
Marcus
PS. I noticed with the latest builds there's one remaining issue I
can see - backspace/delete/arrow keys don't seem to be working within
text fields - not sure if this was introduced with the latest round
of patches, but thought I'd mention it in case it rang any bells?
