Thank you again for replying.
Actually i have the most recent versions of "DirectFB(0.9.20)" &
"gtk+-directfb(2.0.9)", as suggested by you.
But i beg your pardon as this time the mistake was from my side.
The demos applns were not hung actually. Even the keyboard drivers are fine.
But when i de-selected the general purpose mouse, the appln started to
respond to the mouse movements.
If i am not wrong the focus on a particular widget was not there, as such
the appln was not accepting any key values from the keyboard. This was true
with example codes as well as my own gtk code.
But right now that part is clear. I am sorry , if i have troubled you with
my previous mail.

But i would request your suggesions again in understanding my current
problem wrt fonts.
I have installed Pango-1.2.5 & fontconfig-2.2.92. Is Xft package is
necessary.
If you can suggest me some URL's or links which can aid my work, i would be
greatful.
