Only singular domains will get kacked on you :)
No reason why you can't write a parser to check whois output for dates -
it might be better for you :) At least a hook to bypass it manually if it
doesn't work for specific cases (i.e. can't reach whois server).
Just a note - we use a different regex for each different Registrar's
whois output (as there's no standard), so you might have a bit of work
cutout for you :)
And no, the regex's aren't going to be released - I have no idea where
they are in the piles of code :)
