I found out !! :)

Basically a Nominet Registrar has a "TAG" to track which domains are
associated with them.  A "TAG" holder can opt to "DETAG" a domain name
(i.e. cannot procure payment/renewal fee from Registrant) and Nominet
takes up the billing.

I've flagged this in our system and it should be fixed shortly - i.e.
domain shows unavailable.
