< In my opinion, OpenSRS has always had a problem understanding
< who their true
< customers.
<
< I have stated in many different messages that OpenSRS customers
are the
< RSPs, not the end registrant of the domain.
<
< That is if OpenSRS is a wholesaler of domain names as they like to
claim
< instead of just another retailer. Real world wholesalers
< understand that it
< the Retailers who are their customers, not the Retailer's clients.

Unfortunately it is the regulatory environment as created by ICANN
that requires us to maintain some ties with the registrant. Hence our
Public Affairs and Compliance group often deal with specific
regulatory and legal issues directly with registrants. I would love
not to have this work on our plate, but the reality of the situation
is that ICANN does not permit us to be truly hands off...
