But its *not* a first come, first serve model - that's the
point. The landrush phase is, essentially, a lottery. The
question is, can you purchase multiple "lottery tickets"
for a domain from one registrar (or will each registrar only
issue one ticket for each domain)
...and the answer is...at least for .biz...you will, in fact be able to
purchase as many 'tickets' as you wish (from the same registrar). The
registry will be charging a nominal fee for each of the 'tickets' so if a
registrant is willing to pay...they will have a greater chance to win.
More details to come on Friday.

Well, they can call it a "landrush" but its the same thing!
That's really what I was referring to - not the dodgy
pre-reg practices of certain companies, but rather the
offical pre-reg (landrush) phase.

Hmmm.. wasn't really worried about how resellers do stuff.
I was thinking how the registrars handle the landrush. Each
registrar will be getting requests for a domain, say web.biz,
simultaneously. When landrush is over, one will get lucky.
Now, if I was eager to get web.biz, I could put a pre-reg
(or whatever you want to call it) in at a few registrars to
increase my chances. This led me to my question: Will each
registrar be allowing more than one pre-reg for each domain.
If they were, you wouldn't need to purchase a "ticket" from
different registrars - but could buy multiple orders from
the one registrar.
