if it helps... a traditional whois on the IP address should return the
name of the DNS server...

   [tbrown@server ~]$ host ns
   ns.baremetal.com. has address 209.133.48.1

   [tbrown@server ~]$ telnet whois.internic.net whois
   Trying 198.41.0.6...
   Connected to whois.internic.net.
   Escape character is '^]'.
   209.133.48.1

   Whois Server Version 1.3

Domain names in the .com, .net, and .org domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
   for detailed information.

      Server Name: NS.BAREMETAL.COM
      IP Address: 209.133.48.1
      Registrar: TUCOWS, INC.
      Whois Server: whois.opensrs.net
      Referral URL: http://www.opensrs.org

   >>> Last update of whois database: Thu, 28 Jun 2001 02:04:50 EDT <<<

The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU domains and
   Registrars.

   Connection closed by foreign host.

In case it isn't clear... all I typed into the telnet window was 209.133.48.1
