There is a huge difference between the old InterNIC handles and the way
OpenSRS works
e.g. My NSI handle is WN409 -- I may be admin contact on some domains,
billing contact on others, tech contact on others. If my phone number
changes, I change the phone number associated with handle WN409 and this
will be reflected on whois output for all these domains. They don't need
to be in the same profile; I don't need to have any privileges to make
changes to these domains; I don't even need to remember (or have a
database that remembers) what domains I am associated with.
Under OpenSRS's current system, if I were a tech contact for hundreds of
client domains and my clients managed their own profiles, updating my
contact info would require either (a) getting hundreds of clients to add
me as a sub-user (or having myself added automatically at registration,
I suppose) and then logging in hundreds of times to make the same
change, or (b) getting hundreds of clients to each make the change for
me.
