Consider this scenario: I am technical contact for 1000 domains. The domains are in 1000 separate profiles, owned by 1000 different registrants, with 1000 different administrative contacts. I change my phone number. If I had a contact handle I could update (after all, I am authoritative when it comes to my own phone number), this would not be a problem. Currently, I must try to get 1000 different people to go in to their domain profiles and fix my phone number.
