I'm with you on the issue of these 3rd level domains being worthless
from a commercial marketing stand point.

Unless the cost of these is down sub-$10/yr to the end user, I don't
see why they will have any consumer appeal.

I also don't like registries bundling other services, such as email
forwarding.  Those are services best left to registrars or third party
services.

As it stands, I intend to issue a "Do not bother" recommendation for
.name and .pro to our clients.

After reading the .name registry plan Rick provided I have to say my
opinion is only strengthened.  This is a mess waiting to happen.  I'll
reserve final judgement on .pro until more final data is released, but
.name looks like a wash, and not worth getting involved in.
