Amazingly enough we haven't even had any requests for .info or .biz. We
don't offer them, and don't plan to until all the "crap" is sorted out. As
for .name and .pro I agree with all the feedback I've read so far.

.name would be a good idea if all names were unique, but of course they
aren't. Try registering [EMAIL PROTECTED] or even some of the
lesser known free email services, I'd say that's a pretty good indication of
how this is going to turn out.

Personally it is my job to make money, but I will not put my name on
something I believe to be a rip-off because in the end the responsibility
lands back on me.

I agree with all the fellows in the list. .pro and .name, both are craps
because they are third level domains with awful lots of restrictions. They
are offering email forwarding. This is like fishing in our turf at our cost.
No reseller can promote or suggest them to anyone.

We have been through defensive registrations crap in biz etc. We now know
how bad this is.

But, still we should offer them. Our job is to offer choices to our
customer. whether they would like to buy or not is best left to them.

These are global gTLD's. They may not be attractive, but they are a fact of
life (internet :-)

Subject: .name Feedback

Hi all
Was hoping to get some feedback from you with regards to what will be our
next product offering: .name.

We have just put up an information document here:
http://www.opensrs.org/dotname_info.shtml which contains information about
the 4 products associated with .name:
1. Domain Name Registration
2. Email Forwarding
3. Defensive Registrations
4. NameWatch

I am looking for feedback specifically on what you would value the above
products at...I am trying to bench exactly what you are interested to see if
Tucows should roll-out one, some or all the above products.

What are the major questions/issues/concerns that you have as it relates to
the products?

Feel free to email me offline, but I would also love to see what kind of
conversation is generated, so feel free to use the list. I will stay out of
thing til tomorrow so that I can digest feedback.

Thanks for your help
