I still think the best solution to give us resellers the ability to completely
go with our own scripts/layout/etc. would be to provide a mail robot. A mail
robot is like an API because you specifically need to play within a given
template structure but it's MUCH easier to program for because the only task
is to "compose" an email containing the correct data. No hassle of talking
with another server, sessions etc. Scott, I think you should really evaluate
going with an email robot system, in the end it would completely eliminate the
need to programm a client with different functionality in parallel to the RWI.
Most of the main ccTLD registrars we deal with are using mail template based
systems and they just work very nice, fast and give us complete freedom at a
reasonable amount of programming on our side.
Also, it should not be too much of an effort for you because you have simply
to parse those emails (like you accept and enumerate the values from a
variable array on a submitted web page) and then send the data off to your
API. It should be possible to accept those data values with very few changes.
