Thanks for the answers, Rick.

To clarify one point, you say "Only the pre-regs covered by your account
balance are entered into the pool.", and then say if we "have an idea of
what portion" ... "will be eliminated in the de-duplication" ..."can take a
chance and put less money in".

By "the pool", do you mean the pre-de-duplication pool of all pre-regs? If
so, it seems like even if we expect 50% loss during de-duplication, and fund
our accounts accordingly, we would automatically lose out on having the rest
of our pre-reg's submitted for de-duplication.

It seems like all my pre-reg's should be eligible for the de-duplication
process, until the number of my pre-reg's that survive de-duplication
exhausts my available funds, and then no more of my pre-reg's would be
considered.

I want to be absolutely clear, so let me give an example. Let's say my
account is at $2500, and I have 250 regular pre-reg's ordered, for a
potential amount due (to be placed on hold) of $5000. Let's say I am
confident less than half of those pre-regs will survive de-duplication among
other RSP's, and I believe the $2500 will more than cover any of my pre-regs
that could ultimately be submitted to Afilias. My main question is: will
all 250 of my pre-reg's have a shot at the de-duplication process, assuming
no more than 125 of them are ultimately selected for submission?

I appreciate your recommendation to ensure enough funds for all pre-reg's,
but what I want to do is to maximize the number of possible pre-reg's for
whatever funds I do decide to commit, without having half of them
automatically discarded before the first selection occurs.
