Authorize.net, Signio, and the like are processors, they just pass
data between you and the credit card network. They are not involved
in a charge back.

The card company requests that the acquiring bank, the bank that
issued you your merchant account, to retrieve funds from your account
and return the funds to the issuing bank, the card holders bank,
who credits the card holders account. If your bank won't dispute
the charge back, and they probably won't for a non face to face
transaction, you are SOL.

Does more $$ show up on the bottom line by accepting credit cards
than by not accepting credit cards?

The credit card companies promote the fact that the card holder is
not responsible for unauthorized charges. The card holders know
this and that is why they will use a credit card on the Internet
without thinking twice. The not so honest card holders know they
can say they did not authorize the charge and presto, a credit
occurs.
