That's true, and that is our feelings as well. But the letter's that they send out are just like banks for credit cards. Transfer your current cards to use for a lower interest rate. This letter from DomainRegistryofAmerica says you have the ability to transfer you current domains to us for a lower annual fee if you would like to.  (It doesn't appear to be a deceptive transfer letter like Verisign is practicing) it just states that you have the option to transfer to us and if you are interested fill this form out.   (Although DRofA annual fee appears to be higher than all OpenSRS resellers charges ;)

I think not...
If one guy goes out and hunts down a bad guy, does that make vigilantism ok? Should we all start doing it?
We all need to get together on this, and put a stop to it. That's the only way to truly "level the playing field".
If we were to try to keep up with these types of practices, we'd always be at a major disadvantage being one step being anyway.

Subject: DomainRegistryofAmerica???

Anyone else been getting customers stating that these guys are sending then renewal notices?  They are not nearly as deceptive as the Veri guys but they are a bit confused at first as to why they are contacting them instead of us contacting them... I even received one myself today for one of our domains!  I assume they too are getting this mailing info from the who-is directory....

Remember, we have only been involved in domain registrations for about 8 months.  I know what the Veri guys is doing is completely wrong, but this letter from Domain Registry is not nearly as deceptive. What is OpenSRS's view of Domain Registrys approach? Is this something that they would recommend to stay competitive? If these guys are taking advantage of the who is then should we take advantage of this opportunity and level the playing field?

If anyone has not received this letter from them and would like to see it, please let me know as I will scan it and post it for a short term on our server to be viewed...  Things are changing in the registration world at massive rates and we are simply trying to figure out a way to increase sales but yet withhold proper ethics...
