If Cellular One sent you a notice that said:

We understand that your contract for your cell phone number of 918-555-1111 
is about to expire. You must renew your contact by April 1st, or risk 
losing your phone number. Should your current contractual obligation blah 
blah blah that the average person doesn't understand should lock you out of 
your contract once it expires, then you'll end up paying higher rates. 
(implied...Order now with us or all your friends will be calling someone 
else, you'll have to get you stationary and business cards reprinted and 
some jerk in San Diego will be getting all of your business. Renew now with 
us or you'll never forgive yourself. )

If they sent something like that... the FCC would be all over them.
