I'm not sure that a change like this could be accomplished at this
time.  It would be a radical change for OpenSRS.

But, I've said before in conversations on the subject that I thought
this was one of the more poorly thought out design decisions.  But I
don't consider it a critical one.

Which shouldn't be a problem as long as you are not depending on
OpenSRS's domain login authentication for your local services.
