If you get an answer, I'd be interested in it.  I have the exact same problem w/a 
domain that was originally registered through Netsol, transferred to Registrars.com, 
and now back to Netsol since they acquired Registrars.com.

They are saying the domain expired a year ago when the WHOIS says that it expires this 
year so they are declining the transfer.  When I asked them about it, their reply was 
that WHOIS is "purely cosmetic" and doesn't necessarily reflect the correct expiration 
date.  The best part is that they were happy to start sending me expiration notices 
every few days like the domain is expiring soon but when I try to transfer they say 
that it expired a year ago.
