Hi Jeff,

We're seeing a lot of these as well. If you need a link for filing a complaint
with the USPS or FTC, this is posted on our site http://domainscams.com. We do
have the register4less.com name on the site, so you might want to build your own
to point your clients to.

Keep in mind the renewal scam from Verisign & Domain Registry of America/Canada
is sneaky. Once the customer has sent in their "invoice" payment, they don't
hear again from the offending party. No email is sent to the admin contact to
validate the transfer, since they figure that the signed piece of paper is
confirmation enough. I doubt however that there is a transfer without a credit
card charge or check to go with it.

We've heard from customers that the reply by dates given by Verisign can be
misleading as well. They'll give a reply date that's months in advance of the
actual expiry date, implying the expire is sooner than it acutally is. Once of
our customers got one of these for a domain expiring in 2004!

September seems to be the current hot target however.

Doug.
