We get this all the time when transferring names from UK2, they are not at
all helpful when a customer wants to transfer a domain away from them. Also
Joker made it a bit harder to transfer a domain from them by introducing an
additional step to the transfer procedure. However, it is possible to
transfer a domain from UK2, this is how we do it;

Instruct the customer to go to the Joker web site (www.joker.com) and
register a Login Email using the email address that was originally used when
the domain was registered.

Log in to the Joker site and select Servicezone from the left hand menu.

Select change under Domain - Modification, and change the administrative
contact email address to an address that you have access to.

Select transfer under Domain - Transfer to other Registrar, and enter the
domain name that you want to transfer. At this point Joker will send the
administrative contact an email regarding transfer acceptance, this must be
approved as stated. You will be instructed when the 10 day transfer
acceptance period will start.

You can request the transfer to OpenSRS at any time during the 10 day
transfer acceptance period. The good thing is that Joker will process and
approve the inbound transfer request as soon as it is received from OpenSRS.

.uk transfers from UK2 are a real pain too.

Kind regards,

Richard.

Hi,

That's the funny thing.
The customer's email is listed in the owner contact but he never gets
the email. The opensrs system says "sending owner approval to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

[EMAIL PROTECTED] says "We are not responding to transfer requests"
They do have their own procedure, which includes changing nameserver
beforehand and sending a fax to them. Said that their system can't deal
with our second nameserver though opensrs can.

uk2.net uses joker.com.
I managed to find a statement on joker's website about transferring
domains. Joker says the only thing needed is approval from the owner or
admin contact.

Anyway I'm getting the feeling that this is a one way road. Once uk2.net
for ever uk2.net.

One last question, is there any standard procedure for transferring
domains?

Thx
Gregor

Gregor,

You must contact the current domain owner in some fashion if you wish
the transfer to come through. If this is your customer's domain, he
must have access to the email (or something similar to GET access to the
email)
