I wanted to pass on something I was told by a VeriSign rep. I'm sure it was complete BS, but I just wanted to get confirmation from OpenSRS so I can argue with them a little better.
Recently, I have noticed that the second confirmation from VeriSign is taking four days to arrive, after the RWI shows the transfer as "Pending Registry Approval". I called VeriSign to find out why. The rep confirmed that it could take a few days for the confirmation message to arrive after a transfer is started, but later said they send the message as soon as they receive the request from OpenSRS. When I asked how those both statements could be true, he suggested that OpenSRS probably "batches up" the transfer requests and delays sending them for a number of days. I'm assuming this is complete crap (I suspect VeriSign is intentionally delaying the message because it gives the domain a chance to expire, allowing them to unfairly block the transfer). But if someone from OpenSRS can confirm that VeriSign receives the request at the moment indicated in the RWI as "Registry Request Date", I'd appreciate it. ------------------------------------ Robert L Mathews, Tiger Technologies
