Which means that you are making decisions based on what your customers are
asking for, rather than on religious dogma and FUD which seems to make a lot
of sense from a business perspective.
As long as customers understand what they are getting, I fail to see the
big deal. If they don't have a problem with lack of universal
resolvability, it's a bit perplexing why a provider would feel a
compulsive urge to have one for them.
If a substantial enough number of other registrars start including one or more
of them, it's pretty hard to imagine that Tucows wouldn't as well in the
interest of staying competitive. With that said, I personally doubt that
at present New.net or any other alt-root player would sell enough names to
warrant integrating them.
I could be wrong.
Whatever the case, I'm hopeful that Tucows position on the issue of alternate
roots and their (non) inclusion will continue to be driven by pragmatism
and a business case, rather than the hysterics of a few people reacting to
the prospect of their inclusion.
ObDisclaimer: I used to work for New.net a couple of years ago, however I
don't have any vested interest whatsoever in whether they succeed or fail.
P.S. This is my final public post on this issue as I do not wish to
clutter the list with what are probably off-topic discussions.
