I don't see how this prohibits saying "we don't sell out to Register.com" or "we are in no negotiations with Register.com" (if it is true). Read the arguments given there, they don't apply here at all. Well, this was started on a Friday and if I were Tucows I would sure post a message about this on Monday, if it is *not* true.
