Tucows has a duty to its shareholders (I'm not one of them) to maximize their wealth, so if they decide to make a deal, that's good for them (speculation, though). I wouldn't leave just because the buyer is Register.com, if that's the case (if it was Verisign, I'd be gone in an instant). But, if they were bought by another party, I just wanted to specify why I like Tucows/OpenSRS, and that if certain changes were made (i.e. getting rid of the high quality support we get from the Toronto office, or changing the jurisdiction of our contracts to NYC), then I'd be less likely to stick around.... I'm sure each of us has our reasons that we love Tucows/OpenSRS, and there's a line that a possible new owner would have to cross to think of ditching them. Just being owned by someone else isn't enough for me (although, if they were going to sell, they should seek out other companies -- being owned by IBM, Oracle, EDS, or another monolith might be better -- imagine all the business IBM could send to OpenSRS, if they owned the registrar? it could be an even more formidable competitor to Verisign). Have a nice LONGGGG weekend (at least for those of us in Canada/USA), George Kirikos http://www.autoinsurance.ca/
