<Just My Opinion> I don't see it as RackShack trying to drive us out of business selling domains, I see it as some clever marketing. If I decide to give away a nice pen to anyone who comes in to my store I don't expect the office supply store to be feeling threatened, but at least RackShack is limiting it to a one year registration. They're bringing traffic in to their site, running a loss leader like everyone has pointed out and probably selling out a few more servers. They are confident enough in their product to know they can lose a few bucks on anyone that chooses to buy from them and when someone does they treat them well, and that person leaves with the impression that RackShack (Now EV1Servers) are out there to give them a good deal and sell decent goods. Sounds like a winning combination to me, also Robert Marsh at Rackshack did say (I believe) that this isn't necessarily a permanent thing and they are (going from memory) shooting for 5000 domains / month to be sold. When you look at some of the cost per click rates in our industry today losing whatever they are on those domains might not be a bad deal. Overall I'm not worried about losing too many customers to Rackshack on domains, if they didn't want to leave for $6.95 domains I don't see them leaving for the extra $2.00. I think everyone still selling names here knows we have to set ourselves apart in some way other than cost.
