Hey folks, Would anyone on here object to us using a Wordpress plugin to automatically e-mail each of our blog posts to this discuss list? I think this would provide some material for us to discuss, and would help keep people informed about our activities even if they don't use an RSS reader. It would also keep us from having to make the difficult decision over whether to post a given news item to the blog or the discuss list (or both, which is frequently what is most desirable anyway).
The main problem I see with this is that it would provide two places for people to discuss our blog content, the comments section on our blog and this mailing list. We could solve this problem by making it official policy that all comments that are in direct response to a blog post should go to the comments section on the blog. Since anyone who is subscribed to the discuss list can post whatever they want to the discuss list, you also have the freedom to start new threads on this mailing list if you want to take the discussion in a different direction. Really, I think it's silly that blogs, forums and mailing lists are different pieces of software instead of one unified piece of software with multiple interfaces that can be turned on and off / used or ignored by the users. Perhaps we'll be able to unify them in the future.... Anyway, if I don't hear any objections in the next few days, I'll try subscribing this list to our Wordpress blog and see what happens.
