RE: kevin's questions around filtering--how sensitive are the filters YouTube employs? I was at an event yesterday in Washington where the DMCA was discussed at length as a part of the Dept of Commerce/USPTO Internet Policy Task Force symposia-- http://www.ntia.doc.gov/internetpolicytaskforce/copyright/index.html
Corynne McSherry from EFF reiterated some best practices that they've been supporting for years WRT ISP filtering for copyright infringement --such as audio and video should match, and that at least 90% of the original video should be replicated for the filter to pick it up. At that point, there should be an actual human that can review it. Also, users should be forwarded the actual DMCA takedown notice, and not just receive some vague note. There are still lots of fair use dolphins gettin' snagged in the infringement filters. tvol On Thu, Jul 1, 2010 at 9:55 PM, Rich Jones <[email protected]> wrote: > Sure! > > To actually qualify for DMCA safe harbour status, you have to register with > the US copyright office.
