Discovered jquery around April'06, when we were planning to morph our POJ (plain old _javascript_) web-based workflow management application into an AJAX app. I had already studied and played around with Prototype/Scriptaculous, and was pretty impressed with the coding style. When I discovered jquery (dont remember how), it was sheer poetry in _javascript_! There was no doubt about the choice of using jquery for our application. Its been about 4 months now since we started using jquery, and its like a dream! Jquery made our transition from POJ to AJAX very smooth, thanks to its brevity of code and chaining majic!
Well the important issue is this - for an experienced coder like me (with over 20 yrs coding, i ought to be), the choice of the framework is not as important as for the juniors who are new to the web - jquery makes writing good, efficient code so much easier even if you dont know _javascript_ very well. That is probably the biggest value we have got from jquery.
