Hello carpentries friends.

I am a librarian that often
teaches carpentries lessons. I am collaborating with a researcher that is
thinking about developing a data management training for the new grad students
and
postdocs in a research grant. A lot of the content that she is hoping for
matches
lessons in the carpentries: spreadsheet best practices, R, python, version
control. However, because of the characteristics of the grant (several
institutions, 5 years, several grad students and postdocs hired at different
moments), it is not realistic to organize software/data carpentry workshops, the
students will not coincide in time and space. A great part of the value of a
carpentry workshop is the personalized interaction with instructors and helpers
in the moment, of course. But since this is not an option for her team, I was
wondering if somebody has adapted carpentries lessons to a more “hybrid” format,
something that will not be an in person workshop, but that will be more than
just
a link to a lesson that the student must follow on their own.

I will also be interested to
hear if you know of other resources that would allow students to get similar
training than the training they would get in a carpentry workshop, without the
in person element. The instructor mentioned DataCamp, which I am not very
familiar with.

 As always,
thanks for your help!

Clara
