As opposed to ClosedIllumos aka NexentaStor 4? I've never thought tacking "open" on to anything made much sense due to various conflicts over what that really means. I've seen several open source projects survive name changes (e.g. Mozilla Phoenix -> Firebird -> Firefox) but rarely has it made sense to let the community at large decide the branding and name. On the other hand, I've seen a case or two where a few rounds of voting turned out somewhat useable project name (e.g. u-lite before the main dev join lububtu). But there will certainly need to be trademark searches in proper categories in order not to infringe on existing marques. I think most of this is peripheral, however, to the desire to prevent further fragmentation of an already small ecosystem. For what it's worth, I've a few years of WordPress admin experience if any existing or future projects would like an easy to manage CMS. So please contact me off list if you'd like to discuss how I might contribute some time to such an endeavor. In the mean time, please keep the communications flowing as we all appreciate everyone's hard work and willingness to forge ahead despite the daunting tasks which lie ahead. As an aside, can anyone share some insight in to why the IPS wheel was reinvented as opposed to choosing an existing known package manager in the first place? -Gary ------------------------------------------- illumos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/182180/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/182180/21175430-2e6923be Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21175430&id_secret=21175430-6a77cda4 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
