First off, thanks to all for the great responses, they are very helpful. By necessity, I am going to blend the overview and methods materials with interactive excercises.
As for the usability vs interaction design piece, I do recognize the seperation. I am contantly referred to around the office as the "UI guy" or the "Usability guy". It is frustrating, but when I think of the fact that when I came here most did not even know what usability was, I consider that to be progress. Especially since the last time someone said this, our CEO overheard and said "No, he is the experience guy...he ensures we have successful users". Progress indeed. This class is specifically designed to get people to recognize what a good design process is and what we have to do to ensure there is a high level of usability with our products. Usability activities will be a part of the curriculum, but not the entire focus.
